Villain

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Philadelphia emcee's latest studio work reinforces his standing in the modern boom-bap revival, characterized by his raspy delivery and detailed street-level storytelling. The production features a heavy reliance on dark piano loops and dusty, sampled percussion typical of the East Coast underground aesthetic. Lyrically, the record deconstructs the archetypal 'villain' persona, exploring the moral ambiguities of survival and crime within urban environments.
