Album Notes & Community Reviews
'The Ascension' is the third studio release from the Los Angeles-based metal group, expanding their aggressive, poetic nu-metal blueprint. Otep Shamaya's vocals shift dramatically between harsh, hateful screams and spoken-word passages, driving the record's heavily rebellious and anti-religious themes. The delayed release of the project, due to label restructuring, ultimately amplified its dark, uncompromising intensity upon arrival[cite: 4].
