Album Notes & Community Reviews
Helmed by legendary producer Willie Mitchell, this Memphis soul landmark pairs Otis Clay's remarkably gritty, impassioned vocal delivery with the unparalleled pocket of the Hi Rhythm Section. Buoyed by its deeply melancholic title track, the record explores themes of heartache and longing through a masterful blend of slow-burning ballads and driving, horn-heavy grooves. It remains a definitive and enduring document of the deeply emotive, mid-70s southern soul sound.
