Entirely self-produced by Adam Young in his parents' basement in Minnesota, this major-label debut brought unabashedly sweet, internet-era synthpop to mainstream radio. Propelled by the massive global success of the single 'Fireflies', the record embraces saccharine melodies, innocent lyricism, and bubbly electronic textures. It came to define the heavily auto-tuned, MySpace-adjacent pop sound of the late 2000s.
