After the Magic

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'After the Magic' marks a stylistic evolution for South Korean musician Parannoul, shifting from overt emo influences toward a sound rooted in melodic '90s alternative rock and dream pop. The album's production is noted for its dazzling and complex arrangements, which incorporate electronic elements like glitches and breakbeats alongside chamber pop instrumentation such as strings and trumpets. Considered a breakthrough work, this first release on the Topshelf Records label garnered significant critical acclaim and the artist's first appearance on the Billboard charts.
