Album Notes & Community Reviews
Departing from the darker, more introspective tone of his solo debut, the recording sessions brought the songwriter to Muscle Shoals Sound Studio to collaborate with their famed rhythm section. The inclusion of gospel backing vocals and Dixieland brass arrangements showcased a newfound, expansive musical optimism and deep engagement with classic American roots styles.
