Album Notes & Community Reviews
Paul Winter and Paul Halley improvise with recordings of humpback whales made by Roger Payne, the same whale recordings heard in 'Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home'. Recorded in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, the nine tracks pair Winter's soprano saxophone and Halley's organ with the whalesong treated as a melodic equal. Leonard Nimoy reads texts including D. H. Lawrence's 'Whales Weep Not!' and passages from Herman Melville's 'Moby-Dick'.
