Album Notes & Community Reviews

Deliberately stripping away the bombastic string sections that characterized her massive commercial hits, 'Mink Jazz' places Peggy Lee in a remarkably intimate, minimalist setting. Accompanied by small, swinging combos featuring subtle brass and flute arrangements by Benny Carter, Lee's famously breathy, rhythmically sophisticated phrasing takes center stage. It is widely considered one of the absolute masterpieces of mid-century cool vocal jazz.
