Effigy

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Continuing as a trio following the tragic death of founding member Jack Rose, the legendary Appalachian drone collective delivers an incredibly meditative, deeply spiritual recording. The album consists of sprawling, entirely acoustic improvisations featuring intricate banjo plucking, singing bowls, and the deeply resonant, continuous drone of harmoniums and shruti boxes. It functions as a profound exploration of Eastern raga structures seamlessly translated through American outsider-folk instrumentation.
