Album Notes & Community Reviews
Completely abandoning the jazz-inflected drum grooves of their earlier masterpieces, Pentangle returned to their roots with an incredibly traditional, fiercely acoustic interpretation of English folklore. 'Cruel Sister' is beautifully pastoral and remarkably bittersweet, highlighting Jacqui McShee's haunting vocals across highly repetitive, deeply medieval progressive folk suites, including the side-long 'Jack Orion'.
