David Thomas led his legendary avant-garage outfit through an incredibly dense, highly aggressive return to their darkest, most abrasive post-punk roots. The remarkably chaotic, highly textured production features deeply dissonant synthesizer noise colliding violently with frantic, jagged guitar interplay and Thomas's deeply eccentric, paranoid vocal delivery. The fiercely energetic, highly uncompromising recording successfully revitalized the band's fearsome experimental rock legacy for the 1990s alternative crowd.
