Recorded while still an active member of Tangerine Dream, the German synthesist's solo debut explores slightly shorter, more melodic synthesizer structures than his primary band's sprawling epics. The record blends robotic, sequenced rhythms with grandiose, melancholic Mellotron choirs, anticipating the incoming synth-pop movement. The second side of the album features an extended, highly ambitious suite backed by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
