Playing almost all the instruments himself, including heavily manipulated ARP synthesizers, the Van der Graaf Generator frontman created an overwhelmingly claustrophobic, deeply personal solo record. 'In Camera' is an incredibly dark, fiercely avant-garde progressive rock nightmare, combining intensely poetic, highly philosophical existential dread with wonderfully complex, passionately harrowing vocal performances.
