Musique du Bois

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Musique du Bois' marks Phil Woods' triumphant return to the American jazz scene after several years in Europe. Recorded with a stellar rhythm section, the album is a showcase for Woods' virtuosic and passionate alto saxophone playing, firmly rooted in the bebop tradition of his idol, Charlie Parker, yet entirely his own. The session is characterized by its incredible energy, deep swing, and the remarkable interplay of the quartet, making it one of the most essential recordings in Woods' extensive discography.
