Album Notes & Community Reviews

Showcasing his blazing technical facility and remarkably expressive alto saxophone tone, the young bandleader navigates a set of lushly arranged woodwind-heavy compositions. The supportive arrangements, featuring baritone saxophonist Sahib Shihab, create a rich, dark harmonic cushion that beautifully highlights the leader's urgent bop phrasing. The album is a brilliant showcase of mid-century modern jazz sophistication.
