Album Notes & Community Reviews
Laying the absolute foundation for the Shibuya-kei movement, the Japanese collective debuted with an immaculately arranged, retro-pop masterclass. 'Couples' synthesizes the lush orchestration of sixties sunshine pop with breezy bossa nova, chic lounge aesthetics, and distinctly modern Tokyo sensibilities. The sophisticated, stylish record redefined the possibilities of independent Japanese pop music.
