This Year's Girl
by Pizzicato Five
As one of the earliest and most defining documents of the Shibuya-kei movement, the Japanese group masterfully stitched together 1960s YƩ-yƩ, modern house music, and dense hip-hop sampling. The sophisticated, incredibly playful pastiche deeply influenced the trajectory of Japanese alternative pop in the 1990s.
