Empty Hands

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On her seventh studio album 'Empty Hands', Poppy solidifies her metalcore direction under the continued guidance of producer and co-writer Jordan Fish. The album's sonic landscape is a fusion of metalcore, industrial metal, and djent, punctuated by Poppy's signature pop sensibilities and uncanny, machine-like vocal moments. Lyrically, the record explores themes of romantic grief, loss, and betrayal with a vitriolic and confrontational tone, a shift noted by critics who praised the assertive energy and Poppy's dynamic vocal performance, even as some observed a move toward a more accessible sound compared to her past experimentalism.
