Distancing herself from the abrasive nu-metal and industrial sounds of her previous era, the internet-born artist embraced a highly organic, 1990s alternative rock aesthetic. Produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, the record was recorded entirely to tape with a live band, featuring incredibly catchy grunge and power-pop hooks. Thematically, it addresses her highly publicized severing of ties with abusive former collaborators, leaning into themes of personal liberation.
