Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally recorded in 1985 as a stripped-down follow-up to 'Steve McQueen', 'Protest Songs' was shelved for four years before finally seeing the light of day. The album presents Paddy McAloon's sophisticated, jazz-inflected pop compositions in an intimately raw, unpolished setting compared to their heavily produced hits. The delayed release offered fans a fascinating glimpse into the band's brilliant, bittersweet songcraft in its most immediate form.
