Album Notes & Community Reviews

Captured late in Bernstein's career, this deeply polarizing interpretation of Tchaikovsky's final symphony significantly stretches tempo and phrasing to heighten its emotional devastation. The New York Philharmonic navigates these agonizingly slow, funereal movements to produce an intensely melancholic and controversial reading of the romantic masterpiece.
