Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally recorded in 2001 and shelved by Arista Records for its lack of overt commercial appeal, this deeply personal album finally saw an official release nearly a decade later. The project finds the legendary A Tribe Called Quest emcee singing and leading a live band through free-flowing intersections of funk, jazz, and introspective hip-hop. Its eventual release vindicated Q-Tip's visionary pivot towards live instrumentation long before it became a ubiquitous trend in rap.
