Luis Advis composed the cantata in 1969 for Quilapay煤n, setting the 1907 massacre of striking nitrate miners at the Santa Mar铆a school in Iquique to a structure of narration, instrumental interludes and song. Actor H茅ctor Duvauchelle delivers the spoken narrative, and the finished recording runs just over thirty-seven minutes.
