Album Notes & Community Reviews

Captured in incredibly intimate, bare-bones recording sessions, 'Mississippi Hill Country Blues' highlights R.L. Burnside in a strictly acoustic, highly unpolished environment. The album completely strips away his typical electric juke-joint backing band, focusing intensely on his hypnotic, highly rhythmic fingerpicking style and weathered vocal delivery. It stands as a vital, deeply authentic document of the highly repetitive North Mississippi blues tradition.
