Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut album by Indianapolis band Racebannon, formed by Michael Anderson and James Bauman, 'First There Was the Emptiness' layers dual chanting and screaming vocalists over no wave guitar skronk, mutated blues rhythms and turntable noise. Vocalist Chris Williams left after the record, which remains the rawest statement of the band's extreme early sound.
