Album Notes & Community Reviews

Stanley's second gospel album for the label, after 'Cry from the Cross' six years earlier, was produced by Charles Freeland and pairs his high lonesome tenor with Keith Whitley's lead singing. Its 'Oh, Death' is credited simply as traditional, a quarter century before Stanley's performance of the song in 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' won the 2002 Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. The record also introduced 'I've Just Seen the Rock of Ages' to the bluegrass gospel repertoire, with Whitley and Stanley alternating lines.
