Album Notes & Community Reviews

Captured dynamically at a concert in Atlanta, this album documents the architect of soul music at the absolute peak of his transformative crossover success. Featuring a stellar big band and the impassioned call-and-response vocals of the Raelettes, the set wildly swings between frenetic rhythm and blues stompers and deeply emotional, gospel-drenched ballads. The recording successfully translates the intense, near-religious fervor of his live revues to a massive national audience.
