Album Notes & Community Reviews
Veteran jazz bassist Reggie Workman assembles an incredibly formidable ensemble, including pianist Geri Allen, for the deeply ambitious 'Cerebral Caverns'. The album seamlessly balances highly structured, intricate post-bop compositions with vast stretches of fiercely exploratory free-jazz improvisation. It effectively highlights Workman's enduring brilliance as both a foundational anchor and an adventurous composer within the avant-garde.
