Album Notes & Community Reviews

Barrett's orchestral 'vanity', composed over the first half of the decade, divides the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Arturo Tamayo into six heterogeneous ensembles that play simultaneously independent strata of music. It remains the signature orchestral statement of the new complexity, from a composer who had taken a top composition prize at Darmstadt while still in his twenties.
