Henki

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On the collaborative album 'Henki', English singer-songwriter Richard Dawson and Finnish experimental rock group Circle merge narrative folk with progressive metal and psych-rock. The album's seven lengthy tracks form a botanical concept piece, using stories of plants and trees to explore wider themes of history, mortality, and mythology. The resulting sound is a collection of sprawling, theatrical epics defined by Dawson's distinctive vocals and Circle's heavy, dynamic instrumentation, with arrangements that incorporate everything from harmonized guitar solos to free-jazz passages.
