After years as a session guitarist and a stint in Pulp, the Sheffield crooner launched his solo career with an impossibly smooth, romantic homage to 1950s pop and countrypolitan. 'Late Night Final' is dripping with nostalgia, utilizing subtle string arrangements, hollow-body guitars, and Hawley's rich, reverb-soaked baritone to create a lush, nocturnal atmosphere.
