Album Notes & Community Reviews

Maintaining his explosive momentum as Motown's premier funk provocateur, 'Fire It Up' continues Rick James's mastery of the gritty, bass-heavy 'punk-funk' sound. The album effortlessly balances tough, sexually charged dancefloor workouts like 'Love Gun' with incredibly smooth, sophisticated soul ballads. The release firmly cemented his reign as one of the most creatively dominant and commercially successful R&B artists of the era.
