Album Notes & Community Reviews
Departing from the Motown label for the first time in his career, the funk superstar attempted to align his signature bass-heavy sound with the ascendant New Jack Swing movement. The album yielded the hit 'Loosey's Rap', featuring Roxanne Shant茅, which successfully bridged his classic synth-funk with contemporary hip-hop aesthetics. Despite strong R&B chart performances, it marked his final major commercial impact of the decade.
