Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded entirely by Robert Wyatt without any backing musicians, 'Old Rottenhat' is a sparse, deeply melancholic exploration of minimalist art pop. Wyatt utilizes simple synthesizer loops, subtle piano, and his incredibly fragile, emotive vocals to deliver staunchly Marxist, anti-imperialist protest songs. The record is a profoundly sombre, hypnotic, and uniquely political triumph of the Canterbury Scene legend.
