Album Notes & Community Reviews
Further cementing his reputation as a master interpreter of American vernacular music, the virtuoso guitarist delivered a gritty, eclectic set heavily anchored by his signature bottleneck playing. 'The Slide Area' features a potent mix of obscure blues covers and R&B standards, recorded with a loose, live-in-the-studio energy alongside longtime collaborators like Jim Keltner. It highlights his unparalleled ability to revitalize traditional musical forms with distinct, soulful grit.
