Album Notes & Community Reviews

Pivoting away from the jam-heavy, highly improvisational acoustic folk of his prior work, the Chicago guitarist embraces knotty, Chicago-style post-rock and complex jazz-rock arrangements. Featuring legendary producer Jim O'Rourke on mixing duties, the highly intricate album utilizes flute and synthesizer to create a remarkably tense, unpredictable atmosphere beneath his deeply reflective, often cynical lyricism. It was highly praised as a massive, deeply satisfying artistic maturation.
