Album Notes & Community Reviews

Eschewing the straightforward aggression of their SST labelmates, the Los Angeles outfit plunged into dense, jazz-inflected discordance on their debut full-length. Jack Brewer's frantic, beat-poetry vocal delivery navigates Joe Baiza's jagged, heavily improvisational guitar squalls. The release heavily informed the experimental fringe of the American hardcore scene, prefiguring the development of math rock and post-hardcore.
