House of Sugar

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'House of Sugar', (Sandy) Alex G merges manipulated electronic textures with his foundational indie-folk songwriting, creating a sound that is both polished and experimental. The album's production layers pitch-shifted vocals, acoustic strumming, and dissonant synths, while the lyrics explore themes of addiction and flawed characters through impressionistic, character-driven stories. Referencing both a casino and a fairy tale, the album's central metaphor of inescapable temptation is mirrored in its sonic shifts between gentle Americana and jarring, abstract noise.
