Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Message', the third album from her trio This is It!, pianist Satoko Fujii balances intricate compositional structure with the boundless creativity of free improvisation. Joined by trumpeter Natsuki Tamura and percussionist Takashi Itani, the ensemble explores a vast emotional and sonic range, from the turbulent, gritty energy of 'Ernesto' to the translucent, impressionistic lyricism of 'Cryptography'. The trio's deep, telepathic interplay is central to the album's sound, allowing them to shift from jagged, percussive dialogues and playful, off-kilter themes to moments of quiet, meditative beauty.
