Alpinisms
by School of Seven Bells
Formed by ex-Secret Machines guitarist Benjamin Curtis and the Deheza twin sisters, this debut album is a mesmerizing hybrid of tribal percussion and ethereal pop. The record buries incredibly sweet, interlocking female vocal harmonies under massive layers of shoegaze guitar noise and syncopated electronic drum loops. It successfully captured the mystical, haze-drenched aesthetics of the late-2000s Brooklyn music scene.
