Songs of Townes Van Zandt

Album Notes & Community Reviews

This profoundly stripped-down tribute album brings together three titans of the modern extreme metal and doom underground (members of Neurosis and Saint Vitus) to honor the legendary Texas songwriter. Removing all metallic distortion, the three vocalists utilize only acoustic guitars and their deeply weathered, raspy baritone voices. The project highlights the inherent darkness, gothic sensibility, and profound despair central to Van Zandt's original folk compositions.
