Album Notes & Community Reviews
Characterized by cynical lyricism and a smoky, jazz-inflected backing band, this bold debut introduced a provocative new voice to French popular music. The urbane, darkly humorous songwriting starkly contrasted with the sentimental romanticism prevalent in traditional chanson of the era.
