N° 2

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Continuing the jazz-infused, deeply cynical cabaret style of his debut, the provocateur's sophomore release further establishes his persona as the darkly romantic, disillusioned poet of Parisian nightlife. The arrangements heavily incorporate subtle Latin rhythms and sophisticated cool jazz instrumentation, providing a smoky backdrop for his uniquely detached, half-spoken vocal delivery. Though commercially unsuccessful upon release, it planted the crucial seeds for the sophisticated pop innovations that would define his later career.
