Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking their debut for Sub Pop records, 'Animal Joy' sees the Austin-based group shedding the ornate folk instrumentation of their previous trilogy for a distinctly muscular indie rock sound. Jonathan Meiburg's commanding vibrato takes center stage over driving basslines and forceful drum patterns. The lyrical content remains grounded in the natural world, but is delivered with an immediate, visceral energy rarely seen in their prior catalog.
