Album Notes & Community Reviews

Formed by ex-members of XTC and Gang of Four, Shriekback delivers a highly rhythmic, intellectually driven debut. 'Care' balances tense, mechanical post-punk basslines with dark, atmospheric synthesizers and Barry Andrews's abstract vocal deliveries. The album established their uniquely cerebral, funk-inflected sound that would heavily influence alternative dancefloors.
