Album Notes & Community Reviews

Guided by producer Steve Lillywhite, 'Sparkle in the Rain' moves away from the subtle art-rock of the band's earlier catalog in favor of a grandiose, arena-ready sound. The production emphasizes Mel Gaynor's booming drum work and expansive synthesizer arrangements, aligning the group with the 'Big Music' movement of the era. This stylistic shift proved commercially triumphant, marking their first step toward global stadium dominance.
