Diverging wildly from Sub Pop's typical grunge output, the Rhode Island quartet's debut acts as a jarring, hyper-angular assault of noise rock and early dance-punk. The cold, mechanical rhythms and heavily synthesized, dissonant guitar screeches deeply informed the post-hardcore aesthetics of the late 90s and early 2000s.
