Album Notes & Community Reviews

Arriving confidently in the first massive wave of the Britpop explosion, Sleeper's debut album relies heavily on sharp, heavily punk-inflected indie-pop hooks. Frontwoman Louise Wener delivers incredibly witty, highly observant lyrics regarding suburban boredom and modern relationships, matching the band's bright, energetic guitar attack. 'Smart' secured them a massive UK following and firmly established Wener as a leading cultural icon of the era.
