One Chord to Another
by Sloan
Rebounding from the brink of breaking up, the Halifax quartet fully embraced their classic rock and 1960s pop influences on their triumphant third record. The songwriting duties are remarkably democratic, resulting in an incredibly melodic, highly infectious collection of Beatles-esque power pop and jangle rock. The completely self-produced album saved the band's career and became a definitive cornerstone of the 1990s Canadian alternative scene.
