Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut of Sly Stone's racially and gender-integrated group introduces a horn-heavy, syncopated approach to West Coast soul. While it leans heavier into traditional R&B than their later psychedelic hits, the record establishes their signature blend of deep funk basslines and bright, choral vocal harmonies.
